Recondition batteries at home – a few quick tips

I’m going to tell you how to get the most out of your lithium-ion battery. For example, a person who uses a lithium-ion battery in a camera will often let the charge get down to zero before recharging the device. This is something that seriously degrades the performance of the battery, and you will find that after doing this for some time that your battery performance can degrade by as much as thirty percent.

The right procedure is to charge the device again when the display shows that energy levels in the battery have fallen to about seventy percent.
This doesn’t mean that you can’t use more of the battery, for example, when you’re on a trip, but you shouldn’t make it a regular practice. Whenever possible, monitor your battery, and when the charge falls to about three-fourths of the battery’s capacity, charge the battery again until it reaches one-hundred percent.

Another way to extend battery life is to quite simply extend the amount of work you get out of each charge cycle.
This means using your devices efficiently.

For example, in a mobile, one usually has a lot of applications operating in the background, some that one may not even be aware of. This is a very bad practice, and draws heavily upon the battery of your mobile. This, in turn, means that you need to charge your battery more often, and since your battery can sustain only a limited number of charge cycles, this ultimately reduces the life of your battery. Therefore, to extend the life of your battery, you just need to make sure that your mobile works efficiently.

The operating system of just about any device that uses a battery will have an activity monitor that will let you see what applications are currently active.

You can shut down any application that you feel you don’t need running all the time. Even better, open the application up and go to the settings, and set the application to not run at start-up, as many applications often do.

While I discourage a person from discharging their battery completely, the simple fact is that after extended use, a lot of programs and applications can become confused at reading the performance of the battery.

This can include the operating system of your device.

To recalibrate the entire system, what you have to do is to discharge the device in use until the battery discharges completely.
